DJ IKE
DJ Ike was born in 1976, in Belgrade. He began his career as a DJ at the age of 19, in a Belgrade club named ` Soul Food `. Over the next 6 years, he created his own style by playing music in Belgrade clubs such as Akademija, Industrija, 4 Rooms, Omen, Cafe del Mar, Zvezda...
His work was influenced mostly by funk, soul and disco music from the 70`s and 80`s, and artists such as James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones...
In 2001, in he collaborated with the Belgrade club `Anderground` , starting a regular evening called ` How Do You Spell Black? ` , which was a success for the next four years.
During those years he began collaborating with another Belgrade DJ, DJ Prema, with whom he starteds a DJ organisation called ` Bad Brothers `, which later on welcomeds DJ MHL and DJ Thumb .
Since then, he has workeds as a resident DJ in the following Belgrade clubs Cvijeta, Ana 4 Pistolja, Sound, Freestyler...
In 2005 he began working with the Belgrade club Plastic and started a regular evening event called ` I Love R`n`B ` every Wednesday, as well as a Saturday evening event called ` Mainstream Pressure`, which have been a successful ever since.
DJ Ike i also a frequent guest DJ in many clubs in other former Yugoslav countries.
Along with R`n`B, he also plays funk, disco, 80`s, House, Mashup and other music.
He was a member of the Belgrade band Acme, during the band`s existence from 1996 to 1999.
Throughout his career he has performed with artists such as Public Enemy, Urban Dance Squad, Soul II Soul, GURU Gangstarr , Happy Mondays, Stanton Warriors and many others .
He currently works as a resident DJ in Belgrade clubs Plastic and Freestyler
